Welcome!

Welcome to The Endangered Skill blog. I'm Nora Kinnunen, a redirective practitioner working across disciplinary borders, based in Brisbane, Australia. As a designer and owner of a small furniture design and manufacturing business, my concern is for the skills and traditions that are steadily becoming endangered. Endangered in this context points to that which is at risk of being forgotten, invisible, replaced or displaced. Through these writings I will explore the idea that craftsmanship and traditional skills hold agency in the redirecting of our material culture towards a sustainable future.

This, I hope, is the beginning of a conversation which will grow into a robust dialogue of the issues regarding the protection of our endangered skills. I invite all those who regard the endangered skills important in the future viability of our world to participate in this dialogue, please contact me.
